6/2017/2340/NMA Non material amendment for the bulk of the site comprised of 25 no. 40ft shipping containers housing all the Batteries, Power Conversion System (equipment which converts the electrical energy from DC to AC power so it can be used on the National Grid), and other ancillary electrical equipment (Ring Main Unit). In addition, an access road of approx. 100m was to be constructed off the existing concrete roadway to the battery storage facility. Since appointing an EPC contractor and technology supplier, the design of the site has been amended in the following ways; 1. The Power Conversion Systems and Ring Main Units have been moved outside the containers, so they are now free-standing external units; reducing the number of containers from 25 to 19. 2. A reduction in the number of external transformer units from 25 to 10. 3. Dedicated parking spaces, communications room and stores room have been removed. 4. The customer switch room, which links our project to the DNO network and houses the communications and metering devices, has been moved to where the communication and stores rooms were. 5. The DNO Substation has been re-designed to match the latest requirements of UKPN; meaning the building is now elevated by 1.5 metres above ground level. 6. The addition of 1 extra CCTV camera. 7. The addition of an auxiliary supply transformer to provide LV power to the HVAC and DNO equipment. 8. The route of the new access road has been amended. The original position of the access road took its position from OS maps which marked the edge of Tollgate Wood. However, subsequent analysis using Google Earth revealed that the Wood extends farther than what is depicted on the OS plans and the access road would therefore require the removal of a large Ash tree. The new route avoids this entirely 04/09/2019 02/10/2019 These amendments are being made to facilitate the optimum design of our chosen EPC partners and battery suppliers, which is necessary to ensure the economic viability of the project. The change to the DNO substation is required to meet the design specification of UKPN. The re-routeing of the access road is simply to avoid the removal a large Ash tree.
