Hatfield Town Council objects to this application. Considering students should be housed within the University campuses at either College Lane Campus or De Havilland Campus and not in the local community, as part of the University future planning model. Especially so close to residential areas. In addition the application did not compliment the existing hotel on the site. Further concern was expressed on the lack of car parking in the application, in fact no parking was proposed. The local residential area has severe parking issues and residents in this proposed development with cars would cause considerably parking issues in the locality.
